Default OT: The hybrid is injured. :(

Well, I was driving to a club tonight...and then all of a sudden my clutch went out in my hybrid. I killed it at first...didn't really know WTF was going on. The whole car was shaking and the clutch just didn't want to grab.

SUCKS! I'm so broke right now...and this happens. I'll have to start daily driving the ITR for now.

Okay, so now I need some advice. I always told myself if this ever happened I would just do everything (clutch, flywheel, FD, LSD) and be done with it. Well, I got to thinking...couldn't I just buy an ITR or JDM ITR (Spoon tranny) complete...then sell my GSR tranny and come out of this pretty good???

Comments/opinions needed.

1) How much is my GSR tranny worth?
2) How much can I get a complete USDM ITR tranny for?
3) How much can I get a complete JDM ITR or Spoon tranny for?

Any help would be appreciated guys. I'm very depressed right now.

Oh no, you have to drive your ITR now?! Noooooo!!! Say it ain't so! Just kidding.

I would also be worried about anything that's mine and broken. I would estimate that a new JDM ITR tranny would be around 1500 plus. Spoon, add another zero, hehe.

The USDM tranny would'nt be too far from the JDM one, of course they are all obviously used.

The GSR tranny I have no idea, depends how much it's been beaten.

But good thinking, everything at once and be over with it is a good way to modify cars. Now if everybody could do it...

You know what I mean. I just don't want to daily drive my ITR and park it everywhere. Most of you here feel the same way I do.

Cheer up! Hopefully, it will be fixed easily.
Here's what I know from shopping around a tranny in the past few months... but the pricing depends on supply and demand so...
1) used GSR -> $600-$800 (but, you gotta add LSD, FD, etc... headache)
2) New USDM ITR -> ~$1,800 (backordered to hell)
3a) New JDM ITR -> ~$1,500 (discontinued ?)
3b) New Spoon ITR -> ~1,700 (discontinued)

IMO, maybe you should just sell the hybrid for a good price and buy a reliable beater. Don't take it the wrong way... hybrids are nice, but for the same money, I would rather have a boring/super-reliable beater. Especially that way, my R feels so good on the weekend.

if u get tranny u still need clutch

i would get the clutch and flywheel first (get ITR PP, clutch, flywheel)

get the hybrid back on the road and forget about the tranny.

sell the ITR and then maybe buy ITR tranny or WRX

Seriously, I'd just find a b16 with LSD. They're only like $1000 in the right places. Basically the same thing as a USDM ITR tranny...just a little harder to find. While your at it...drop in the JDM FD and you'll be good to go.

Sell the tranny for like 700, and buy a clutch.

Well I know someone who has a 2001 USDM ITR tranny for sale here in Toronto. The customer was unable to come up with the rest of the money and he lost his deposit.

I can get you that tranny for $1500 US + shipping (which will not be a lot as I know someone who works at a courier company). Let me know if you are interested

It's funny you say that. Some kid was asking about buying my hatch last night (before I headed to the club, and clutch went out). I told him to make me an offer. Either way, if I sold it I would have to put in a new clutch.

OE replacement clutch can be bought for ~$150. (+ $resurfacing the flywheel). You can find so many good beaters for $1,500-2,000. I bought mind for $900. This way, I can play with the R with little money that I make each month. FYI, I tried doing R + EG project car for about 3 months and things got ugly quick financially. haha. G'luck with your decision.

Just put a clutch in it and leave it at that.. That will leave a bunch of money in your jeans and get the car back on the road by the weekend.. And keep your R safe faster..

Yeah, I'll probably just get a clutch and call it a day. I'd really like to AT LEAST get a flywheel also. How much can a stock ITR flywheel be had for??

That's gotta be $3-400.00 anyway.. And less of a necessity on a light car like yours. you probably don't get much grip as it is...

New or used? Doesn't matter as long as it's in good condition.

You don't think I need a flywheel?

I would rather save a little more money and get an aftermarket one if you plan to keep the hatch.

Is your flywheel toasted? Why are you thinking about getting a new flywheel? You can either shave your GS-R flywheel for $50 or get a H-T members used ITR flywheel (those who swapped it out for Toda/Spoon, etc.) I'm sure used ITR flywheel from a member would be no more than $100-150, depending on the people you know.

i would get either ITR clutch, PP or new ACT clutch and PP. dont really need FW or just get ur stocker resurfaced.
