need help: F22 block H22 head
i need some help, i have somebody who has a jdm H22 type-s head for cheap i want to get it and put it on a F22 bottem end, but i need some help on the little things, like do i use H22 oil and water pumps or vtec F-series ones? and what ecu to use? is this like a LS/VTEC build or totally different? and its all goin into a 88 HF CRX that already has an LS in it, so any help or info on the subject would be greatly appreciated thanks
Look in the for sale section for the head.
The f22 oil pump will supply enough oil, as well as the water pump. I don't know what timing belt you should use though, but you can search for that. Ecu use a p28 chipped. I say this because i'm sure the f22 does no have a knock sensor, so you cannot use the h22 vtec ecu.
Make sure to get the obd1 head so you can run the distributor inside of the ignition coils.

i already have the type-s head lined up my freind has it i just wanted more info before i bought it, and i was wonderting if the F22 oil and water pump would hold up to the higher RPMs with the vtec head
Go out and get yourself the latest issue of IMPORT TUNER on page 89 is an article on the G-series motor, which is an F series bottom with an H series head.
There is a silver Eg civic on the cover (FEB '09 issue)
It tells what exactlly to use from the F and H motors...
Good luck on your build and post pics with updates...

I got that issue this weekend, and I read that write-up, and it just seems to simple. All the other threads have made it seem MUCH more complicated than that. I just need to be pointed to people who have actually built the motor, themselves.
