Default ECU and wiring Q's for a B16B in a Del Sol

OK, this is for a friend of mine who is doing this. He has a 93 Del Sol S and he has a B16B motor ready to go in. Since the Del Sol is OBD I and the CTR was OBD II, I am getting a chipped P30 ECU to run the motor. Question is, I would have to get an OBD1 distributor, right? Do I also have to get a different wiring harness as well?

TIA

I had a B16B in my 92 CX hatch. I converted it to OBDI so here you go. I changed out the distributor to one from a 94-95 GSR. A hint here. Change the rotor cap and button from the CTR distributor to the GSR one. Supposedly the webbing is stronger in the ITR/CTR caps for the higher reving. I am not sure about this I just read it in one of Roger Foo's articles. Also you will need to use 94-95 GSR fuel injectors. You will need a 94-95 GSR catalytic converter and downpipe. You will have to get a GSR or LS rear engine mount and a drivers side motor mount assm. The CTR is different. I ran a reprogrammed P28 without any problems. As far as wiring goes you cannot use a JDM harness anyhow. The engine harness is backwards with the computer on our driver side. You will need to get a EX or SI 92-95 civic wiring harness and just make it work on the B16B. If your car is a VTEC then just use that. Look @ my sig for a link to a few pics of the finished product. Those fuel injectors are critical. I scratched my head for a week on mine. I used 92-95 SI SOHC injectors and they gave me a fit. Make sure and get the GSR ones. Trust me on that... Good luck. Any more Q's hit me up...

hey just to add to this post i just finished a ctr swap into an eg.

*used d15 wiring hareness
-had to cut the injector wiring and redo with the odb2 connectors for the ctr injectors
-cut and redo the distributer wiring with the connectors from the d15 dis
-and lengthen some other sensors
*had a custom exhaust made
*am useing a chiped p28 ecu
*used the d15 altenator so i didn't have to rewire the darn thing

other then that all other basic b16 swap mounts worked
i have pictures if anyone needs

actually, if you dont want to waste time & money converting the B16B engine to OBD1, simply find a used US 96-01 (OBD2) integra engine harness and use this in the delsol. Even tho its an OBD2 engine harness, its backwards compatible with an OBD1 vehicle (minus a few plugs that aren't used anyways).

I suggest a 96-01 GSR or ITR engine harness, as it will have the VTEC solenoid & knock sensor wiring already integrated into the harness. All you'll have to do then, is to wire the car for VTEC + KS from the ecu plugs out to the passenger side shock tower main plugs. And use an OBD1 ecu to power the engine, unless you want to use the OBD2 B16B ecu (PCT), you'll need to buy an ecu jumper harness converter to adapt it (i sell these if you're interested btw).
