Default Is this the sign of bad oil pressure

Vtec does not work and leaking around the vtec selnoid would that be the problem? Would in need to get a new selnoid or what?

not the sign of bad oil pressure per say but i would definitly change the solenoid if its leaking...yes it would stop vtec from engaging...what motor is it????...odds are u can get a used solenoid from a junkyard or something

Depends on where its leaking. The screen is replaceable and has the gasket on it. The solenoid assembly sandwichs the gasket between it and the head. Unbolt it and see if the rubber seal is compressed and dry rotted out. Also unplug the solenoid and jump it (when its bolted to the head) straight from the positive post on the battery and see if it clicks. The solenoid only has one wire and its green and yellow. If it does click and vtec still wont engauge then further diagnostic tests will isolate the problem.

yea its leaking out the side where the rubber gasket is. and i did the thing with the wires and it makes the clicking sound your talking about. would a new gasket make it stop clicking or a new slenoid. the motor is a 97 h22a1

you want it to click that shows its working. Is everything tight ? If so change the gaskets, clean any old oil residue and recheck to see if it leaks.
