Default Burning Oil

I know I'm burning oil because black smoke comes out when i throttle. My question is, would it be easier to buy a new set of pistons with rings and stem valves, or just get a new swap? ! i can tell its lagging when i accelerate and it constantly smells. SIGH i wish there were more people in the import scene where I'm at so it would be easier for me. Is there a thread about replacing the rings too? i can't find anything like it. maybe its just me.

To my understanding Black smoke is not oil burning it's usually running rich, it's got something to do with emission related, oil burning is blue.

it could be your O2 sensor, do you have check engine light on?

Did you swap the injector and the egr from the old engine that you pulled out?

It is a good possibility that it need new O2 sensor for black smoke, it could also be your exhaust to manifold gasket, or theres a hole in a exhaust pipe for the smell that you smelled?
