Default eg tub out with solid rear axle

I am building a drag civic hatch for a shop trailer Queen, I would like a little feedback on tubbing out the rear of a civic hatch with sheet metal and adding a solid rear axle, has anybody on here done that? how did you do it? and how great are the benifits?

Cut weight ,you can shave about 100 pounds just adding a solid rear axle. I am building a drag car to promote my shop, I want to try something different its been do alot, I just need a little insight.

check the drag racing forum -- there are quite a few companies that make bolt-on solid rear axle setups. the tin work is pretty easy once you have the axle in.
