Default quick headlight kit question

my headlights are terribly dim on my 97 ej8 and i was wondering if you can just just buy halo bulbs and put them in or do you have to get a whole new headlight kit assembly or re wire it or anything like that.

thanks

Halo bulbs? I don't think there is such a thing, and I'm a little confused by your situation. Let's see, your headlights are dim? "not satisfied with stock output" dim, or "this isn't right, my headlights look like city lights" dim?

In the case of not being satisfied with the output you have, you could look into Philips X-Treme bulbs to replace yours.

In the case of the "super dim, this isn't right" situation, you may have to take the dim bulb out and inspect the filament. The bulbs could just be really old, and need replacing anyways. However, there could be a slight chance of power/ground issues, in which you'll need to inspect your wiring, but this probably is not the case.

Halo headlights are most often entirely new headlights with specialized housing to seat the light ring, lit with separate LED's. They are not a type of bulb you can just "pop in" to get the halo effect. As for the headlights not being bright enough for you, I don't know if we can go any further without pics.

dim headlights sound like one of 2 things...

1)low battery
2)melting headlight harnesses...usually caused by using aftermarket high voltage bulbs.

i got my bet on #2
if thats the case...pull the plug off the back of the headlight and just look at it to see if it shows signs of melting or deterioration.
if so, just buy new plugs, cut the old ones off and wire the new ones on.

Ok, well "halo" here means:

so "halogen" would be more clear.

Anywho, check into the lighting section and see what everyone else has to say about different bulbs. I think you'll find that many go for the Philips X-treme. It's a good white light, with no silly blue tint on the bulb in a sad attempt to make the light "whiter," which actually just blocks more light.

thanks
Since you mean "halogen" instead of "halo":

Your car already has halogen headlight bulbs. Unless you did a HID conversion, it has halogen bulbs. Halogen bulbs are what came in all of our cars. Halogen bulbs are sold as replacements for our lights at auto parts stores.

What kind of bulbs do you think you have?

Then those are halogen headlights.

The bulb number is 9003.

There are brighter bulbs out there, but in order for them to fit into your headlight, they will still be 9003 bulbs.

Eran did some write ups on brighter bulbs.

You can also try to clean the headlight itself. I have seen people wetsand them with a super-high grit to make the lens completely clear again like it came from the factory.
