Icon2 Anyone try 235 50 15s on an EG?

I want to get some Proxes R888 on some 15 X 8 +25's to put on my 92 Hatch. Anyone ever try this? Im not worried about pulling my fenders or doing some custom work, but dont want to have to go extreme on it. Need more specs, lmk.

I would recommend a 225/45-15 instead. Unlike the 235/50, the sidewall isn't quite so tall; the outer diameter is slightly smaller than that of 205/50-15. So it won't sap your acceleration like the bigger diameter 235/50.

Aw, that's sweet.

Seriously, I'd love to hear how you like the R888. For the track, I've been using the RA-1, and am debating whether to switch to the R888 or the Nitto NT01.

Ill definately be sure to post up my experiences with them, although it wont be until next season when we start autoxing again.

For now, i have the 205 50 15 Azenis rt-615, and they just dont seem to be cutting it. Lose too much traction when hammering on the throttle and they dont seem to want to hold the rear end down either. Dont get me wrong, they are a good tire and are doing way better than most any other street tire, but it seems I need more.

If you're getting tires specifically for autocross (rather than racetrack events), and you need the maximum traction, you might want to consider the Hoosier A6. It's made specifically for autocross, so it doesn't need a lot of warmup, etc. Yes, it's very expensive (even compared with R compounds like the R888), but if you want the grip, that's the way to go.

If you decide on the R888 anyway, I've found the best online prices on Toyo tires at onlinetires.com , td4l.com , and edgeracing.com
