There is no set number, I have grenaded them with 250whp, and plenty of people have run 9's with them....... The key is dont thrash it like its a stock all motor car, dont powershift or drop the clutch at 8k without pre-loading.

i ran 3 events in 06 on a 540whp with a b16/b16 tranny and i beat the hell out of for 5 years at 330 whp before that. i still have the same 1-2-3- and final drive in my trans now with a gsr 4th.

it will probably hold and will probably break in time.

just a question of a few variables.

how you drive it is what will keep it alive... my z6 tranny with an open diff is holding over 400hp..... im adding lsd in the winter, but its been thru one season... so im just gonna say.... "preloading is your friend" treat it as if you think it may break....

i was running a GSR trans with type r lsd, and it held up fine with 500whp...pre-loading is key, and not bangin the **** out of the gears is key too. smooth and fast...gorrilla shifting it is gonna break something.

My turbo LS is probably around 270whp right now for about 20k with the stock tranny. 90% of the time it is driven like a normal car (it's my daily), the other 10 it is driven HARD. Power shifts and all. No problems so far. I think the tranny's can handle abuse to a certain point. If it was driven hard more, like half the time, maybe I wouldn't be so lucky. Who knows, seeing that it's daily I can't get too brave. This has been my experience only.

Pre-loading the transmission is where you take the intial shock off the drivetrain starting off. Way that you do it is to put the trans in first gear and let the clutch drag a little bit while having the e brake up holding the car from moving forward. Then when you are ready to launch drop the e brake and let off the clutch pedal. and of course keeping your revs up while doing this.

yes.. let it bounce off anti-lag, e-brack all the way up with your hand still on the handle... let the clutch out until it starts to disengage, you can feel it.. depending on your seat time, last yellow light throw the ebrake down and slip the clutch out the rest of the way, and go with the flow after that... also another kep part in saving the tranny, is that you DO not want your tire to just hook up and go.. play with your tire pressure a bit, because your gonna wanna spin a little coming out of the whole... the harder you hook the more prone you are to breaking something... but also a heads-up, DO not expect to not break anything.
