I searched and there sure as hell aint no topic particularly for this question so here it goes.

Will a valve cover from a d16z6 fit and work well on a d16y8?

I put it on and it fits, but something looks off to me there's a small space like the cover seems too small but almost everything lines up, you think if i started the car the valve cover would work, like would it be ok to drive around with or do i need the proper valve cover?

 

yes. they are basically the same engine.
im running a z6 valve cover that says vtec on my y8. so yes i will work
