WHEEL BEARING noise Civic LX 2005 4door
Hello everyone
My car been having this Bearing noise for some time now and i need to fix the problem already.
The problem start at around 36000 miles and have 46000+miles now.
so if any here can guide me to the right place to buy a good quality Wheel Bearing for cheap and some instruction to remove the bearing. I search around and read about some press tool i need, but where do i buy this tool and what does it look like.
Also the car is not braking good and when i slightly press the brake i have to hold tight the steering wheel cause it moves to sides, either the brakes are out or the rotors are bad. So please any commend me some decent rotors and brake pads.
I havent done any tuneups of any type to this car since i buy it new. so if there is anything im missing let me know. thanks you all bunch

well the bearing is done, and the tool u need u need to go get is at a tool shop for cars.... and for ur brakes is done u need new ones asap... cuz i had tha same problem wit mine. that can mess up ur disk bad. and mayb ur rotors r done also... and jus get the pad a auto parts place they r cheap and hondas and they last longer also...and dude u need a tune up asap also..
Hi! I have this problem too. I'm not sure wealther it the wheel bearing, or dish. I think my problem could be the disk because ever since i had to replace the brake pad i start to hear the noise. I have stock wheel and rims and I'm still hearing wind noise. I jack the car up and hold both end of the wheel and shake it. I don't see much of shake like it said it could be a bad dish or bearing. Need to investigate more. Here a link that help to replace a wheel bearing. I don't know if will work for you but it help me a little. You can grab yourself a master Craft tools at any auto store.

Could be that i need a new brake disc, brake pads or disk? It too cold outside to do project.
Then that guy sold u a crap pads. so yea u should have not got the cheap one.. u should have the good one the top of the line.lol they r cheaper then the honda ones. so if it makes that noises still then its ur disk then. so go check ur disk if u feel any stretches then its ur disk that its done then. cuz when ever u hear a noise like that again jus change ur pads fast.lol but im sure its the disk then..
get wheel bearings from honda... i've used after market ones and they've only lasted 3 years... maybe i got a bad one but i would recomend oem... and just take your front spindel to a machine shop and they will press it out for you...

FYI I have replaced many wheel bearings do not hammer the new bearing in like many guys do (I have tried) you will end up messing the bearing up. Take the extra money and spend it either on a press or bring it to a shop that has a press (or rent one). It goes in 10x easier with a press. The rest is easy just follow the instructions that were posted.

Hey thanks a lot i almost forget about this post, i was thinking today what to do with the car problem and remembered i post in a forum haha anyway here i am now.
So i see, i will buy 1 WHEEL BEARING cause i heard the noise coming from the front passenger side, will do the other side later.
So are these Wheel bearing made in China or what? If there are better quality ones i want to have it, cause i believe a higher performance car like the CIVIC SI should not have this problem happening so soon?
lets see what this master craft tool looks like, also can any of you tell me the price of a quality wheel bearing, But i need sites to look buy it from if possible, do you people have any connections with autoparts websites to buy it for a lower price ?
OTher question the car have over 46000miles, do i need to change the Sparkplugs and the pulley ? when power on in the morning i hear that pulley noise

Kind of sounds like I'm having a similar problem.... I have an 02 EX sedan, 120k miles.
I replaced the front brake pads two days ago. After driving merely 15 minutes in regular traffic, when I begin to drive, there's a low-pitched rubbing noise, and it's never happened before now. While driving if I press the brake pedal, the noise stops, but begins again when I continue driving. I've taken apart both the left and right sides, cleaned them up a little, and we'll see if the problem still persists. Like I said, it only begins after I've been driving for 10-15 minutes in regular traffic. And likewise with your problem, it sounds worse when turning. If anyone's got information, lemme know, thanks!

well i start hearing the noise above 30mph more likely when i reach 40mph or so, but now after 10,000miles having the problem it has become more audible even at lower speeds, i think the bearing are way too damage now.
also when i get past 45mph or 50 i cannot hear the noise anymore because of a higher speed level

Update on mine - After cleaning the brakes and taking a look at them three different times nothing has changed. I did take the car to a trusted mechanic nearby to get them to take a look, and according to them the brake system visually is in fine condition. He said it may be from the blued rotors, and those can be replaced. I'm thinking that may be it, or the brake pads may just need time to get broken in.
I will inspect the wheel bearing. You can tell if it damage by looking at it and comparing the new ones. Someone told me that it could probably need grease because sometime water, dirt or salt cause it ware off. Does anyone here knows how much does new bearing costs? I heard it about $200.
Im here at home taking out the Right Front HUB to replace the wheel bearing inside it. So i have everything unscrewed even the drive shaft bar out, it is all hanging so on the bottom there the clip and bolt is out, but still cant separate the HUB from the Lower arm
Thats the only piece i need to pull out but how?
after 2 months still debating with the problem.

I got my wheel bearing fix. The noise problem was coming from the driver back wheel. It wasn't the front wheel that was making the hollowing noises. We took it the the mechanic shop and they inspect it and change the whole wheel bearing on the left back side. They put a new one. What i don't understand the car is still in good condition and very Kilo. I'm guessing someone put a false wheel bearing.
Anyway, i saw how they remove the bearing. They didn't use hand tools. Only machine. If you can post photo on what you doing would be eazy to see what you doing. What you need to do is figure out which wheel is making the hollowing noise.

im very sure my problem is on the front right wheel cause i cannot move in the car anymore the front right got like stuck and the car transmission jumped a few times cause it was to heavy to keep going. anyway lets see if i get it fix if not i will try some pics
Well i got it fix today.
Take the HUB to local autopart for pressing, they charge $15 for it, The Bearing i bought on EBAY was not the correct model number and i bought another one on the autopart for $33 made in china, maybe a PieceOcrap.
Mounted everything in and all set, the Major problem is gone but now i hearing another noise similar and it tends to come from the back and still feels like something holding the car back a little heavy.
Im not satisfied, Maybe the BENT Disc Brakes can cause this to happen? i dont know
So now i have the BEARING i buy on EBAY.com like a month ago and i need to return, i wonder if they will take it back + i have to pay shipping. i guess buying online is not good sometimes

I wish i could help you but if you got photo on what the problem might be then you can post it here. If you cannot solve the issue you having on your vehicle then send it to a mechanic and let then inspect it and then ask if how much charge. If too much then find another mechanic. It will save you time, money, frustration, and long term problem.
