91 crx seats into a 91 hatch
My buddy has a 91 std hatch with si seats but he wants to trade some guy for crx si seats.
will they bolt in? or does he need to swap pans or rails or something?

88-91 Civics and crx's use the same seat patterns. Yes they will fit without problems as long as they bolth have seatbelts on the doors or on the b pillar. Crx si seats and civic si seats are the same seat so whats the point in trading?
I just swapped 90 crx si seats into my 90 hatch (dx). The civic seat pan had to be modified for the crx fabric. Like I said though it was civic dx pans and not si.
edit* Also you will need long zip ties hog rings don't work.

It is NOT a bolt in swap.
I just did this swap today. I dont see why anyone goes through all the trouble of swapping pans out. That is SOOOO much work.
I used the Civic outer rail and the CRX inner rail. Then modified the CRX rail.
I took all kinds of pics if anyone is interested in a write up. It does involve cutting and welding though. But absolutely no modifications to the seat pan other than 1 hole drilled into it.

How is there no cutting or anything? Hinge to hinge on the CRX seat is 17", 14" on the Civic seat. If you repl the seat pan, then the seat backs wont swap over. Youd have to run the Civic seat frame and all and the CRX fabric and padding. But that wouldnt work at all with the side bolsters and overall wouldnt look right.
After all that youd only be able to run that seat in the car you have it in. My way I could easily swap the rails over and put it right back into a CRX
