Brandon - Who beleives there are a lot of people in Pittsburgh that have this thanks to Matt D and Scott!
Ok had to [EDIT], because Im a dumbazz and didnt read all the way through. Center console out right? Ok, next get your azz on the floor (on your back) and look towards the bottom of the head unit (only look FROM the bottom, on the BACK of the stock radio). There you will find a screw holding the head unit in place, on the back. Hope that helps...again IM me if your having trouble...

I would just unplug the unit from the rear antenna assembly. Much easier.
Exactly what I did!

look around your trunk and pull back your carpet, and you will see a wire going towards the antenna, just pull it out. thats what i did with my car.

how do you do that, what panels need to be off?

If you have the manual, look at P. 20-92 (1998 Integra version)
You first take off the rear trim panel.
Then You take off the driver rear side trim panel.
Keep in mind that you need to detach the cargo area light before you pull the whole panel out.
I actually just pull part of the rear side trim panel out so I can access the back of the panel.
Then on P. 23-202, you can see a connector connect the battery to the power antenna motor. Disconnect it and you are done!
And for reception... one word, BAD. You still have a little with some channels, but nothing for some of the channels as well. But I don't listen to the radio, but I rather listen to my stereo during a car wash.
Also, it gets annoying when the antenna goes up and down, and it will bent eventually due to cruising on highway etc.
Are you trying to make it stay down permanently? b/c I had always wanted to make it stay down only when the CD player was on, I never understood why it worked like that
My way is stay down permanently.
If you want to make it stay down only when the CD player was on, just try to connect a switch and mount somewhere near the dash. It is not that hard either.
P.S.: I never understood why it worked like that (up when CD player was on) either...

its not very hardk, about 14 screws.. hardest screws are the 2 (8mm) vertical ones, on the head unit, once those are out, eveything is easy..
two words for you: aftermarket headunit.. i ditched the crappy acura radio and put in an alpine.. the antenna is only up when the radio is on, it goes down for CD and when it's turned off..
if you want to make it do this with the factory radio, you have to put a switch in.. there's a how to floating around somewhere on doing this..

how hard is it to pull out the radio?
you have to take the center console out and shift boot area out to get to it, right?

). Yes you have to take the center console out.about the
crappy stock radio
len. I have an aftermarket sony, but it was GIVEN to me and it looks EXACTLY like stock from outside the window. (I have a radar on the alarm anyways so no peeking
). Anyways long story short...some aftermarket radios will have this feature your looking for. (sorry so long winded!!)Brandon - who needs to shut up sometimes...
So most aftermarket radios have the feature for the antenna down when CD is in and up when radio is on? Can you tell or do certain brands (alpine, pioneer etc...) do this? Thanks.
