Icon6 Exhaust popping at idle

I have a 96 lx and I recently swapped out my engine with another f22b2. It seems to have an issue where it makes a popping sound from the exhaust. It really only seems to happen at idle. When I drive it down the road it clears up whenever I'm giving it gas but comes right back when I let off the pedal. The check engine light also came on and when I scanned it, it said cylinder #1 was misfiring. So far I have changed plugs, wires, whole distributor, coil, fuel filter, and the injector for cylinder #1. And it is still is popping...... My friend is a mechanic and he is going to compression check the engine for me this Thursday but I was wondering if anyone on here had any other ideas what it could be?

Timing or valve adjustment would be 2 common causes

Followed closely by a burned exhaust valve. If it were a burned Intake Valve (rare(er) you'd hear it out the throttlebody!!!

It could be:
1) Sticking Exhaust Valve
2) Bent Exhaust Valve
3) Burnt exhaust Valve

Have him perform both a dry and a wet Compression test. He'll know what I mean.
