My 2002 Honda Accord 2.3 with 104k started acting funny over the last few days. On lower speeds and from a dead stop when i depress the gas pedal there is a delay and a jerk. Now my check engine light has come on and three codes have come up that say the torque converter is not engaging right, the gear ratio is off, and their is a slip in the solenoid. Does it sound like my transmission is going out or could it be something else? If so what are my options and how much do they cost?

The trans is bad.

A remanufactured transmission from Honda is roughly $1700-1800 including freight and fluid, plus a $1200 core charge. Labor to install is additional.

If you complain to Honda, they may help you out a bit. 2001 automatic transmissions were covered up to 109,000 miles; the 2002s supposedly aren't covered but we all know it's the same transmission, and I've known several individuals who have gotten at least partial financial help with transmission replacement on their 2002s. Call Honda customer service at 1-800-999-1009 and ask what they can do to help you. They will likely instruct you to make an appointment to have the car checked at a local dealership.
