try pulling your spark plugs to check for water in the cylinders. Crank it a few times and blast it all out.

Sounds like you hydro-locked your engine. Water doesn't compress as easily as fuel vapor and air so you probably have internal damage.

you need to pull the spark plugs like Kp said and crank them with them pulled...if that doesnt help you then it looks pretty bad for you...

floated the head right off the block, if i were you id just look into a new motor, because if your taking everything all apart, theres a pretty good chance that something isn't going to go back together right.

check to make sure your distributor cap and and rotor are not wet. My cousin hit a serious *** puddle two weeks ago, he thought his motor was hydrolocked. I tried my whole distributor, fired right up and ran perfect.

I don't see how a bad distributer could possibly give you the same symptoms. If the motor is hydrolocked it won't even turn over.

+1 on that! you still might be able to save your motor. I saw this done on Top Gear with an old toyota pickup...worked like a charm

that toyota motor and the honda motor are 2 completely diff things. But yes pull your plugs and turn it over a few times and let the water come out. If that doesnt work you may be out of luck.

That sux. Next time install a bypass valve to prevent water being sucked up.

*************If you ever stall your engine due to water, one of the first things you always want to do before you try to start it up is remove all the plugs and crank any water out.*************

You can claim this on insurance, under comprehensive I do believe. If you don't have comprehensive.... get it! It's covered my **** numerous times, covers hoods flipping up, deer hits, break ins, theft, hail, hydrolocked, smacking road debris on your oil pan and blowing your motor, etc.

I do not believe insurance will cover aftermarket parts. Though, I could be wrong. Anyway, OP, it sounds like you hydrolocked it for sure. Definitely try pulling your plugs and crank the engine over. If this doesnt work I suggest looking for a new engine (and for god's sake install a bypass valve next time! You can never be too careful).

call your insurance company and claim natural diseater, usually thats when a tree falls on your car or you hit a deer, in your case just say the front of the car got flooded

If it starts raining, and I've got my cold air on, I just pop the hood and take the coupler off the TB to make it home. Better than sucking up water.

Or, just run an SRI instead. I've stuck with that lately.

Or just push the clutch in when you go through a puddle.

do u have the fender well on your car?

I'm scared to death of hydrolock..especially yesterday.. was on the freeway and the water seemed to splash high, but it seemed ok..

does the filter have to be completely submerged

if you coast through a puddle without stepping on the gas will you usually be fine?

No **** slice, read his post he said "IT WONT TURN OVER". You need air, fuel and spark chief and if water got in his distributor that would prevent the car from getting spark and thus not allowing it to crank over. The cap rotor and distributor itself are the first place to start when **** gets wet and wont turn over. Read a little slower next time

I take "wont turn over" to mean exactly that, seized. Some people take it to mean wont fire, or kick. It really depends here on exactly what the OP mean, is it seized or isn't it?
