check engine light not registering?

Default check engine light not registering?

i spliced the 2 wires together to check my check engine code and it doesnt register that they're splice when i turn it on any ideas? it just leaves the check engine light on it did thats last night but after running for about 25 mins it went off and ran fine as this check engine code is on it runs sporadically and stops me at 3500 if i rev to there?

i didnt mean splicing i meant connecting the 2 wires that let you check your check engine code cmon give me more credit then that just wanna know what might be up

Well if still OBD0 you need to check the ECU itself it would have a flashing LED. If its OBD1 using a jumper harness you may need to ground the wire indicated for CEL indicator. If its a homebrew harness just jump pin D4 to any ground and the CEL will light flash. If you have a constant light no flashing on the ECU (OBD0) or the CEL stays on (OBD1) you may have a bad ECU. Try swapping it with a known good one. If its a chipped ECU make sure the chip is inserted correctly and the dimple is towards the ECU plugs.
