Icon3 h23 swap question???

i had an h23 in my prelude and i blew the motor...i put another h23 into the car and i was told that the engine ran fine..when i funally put the engine in and got it running..it runs like garbage it sounds like a lawn mower and it idles at 1500 rpms...also whe nit runs theres a tapping noise and it sounds like its coming from the head.what would you suggest i do to figure this out so i dnt take it to the dealership and get raped??

check the timing and all sensor connections, pull the valve cover and look for damage or anything unusual. Who did you get the motor from?

yeah, valve lash could be off which could cause some of your problems. Honda dealerships usually do a flat rate 1 hour labor charge on valve lash adjustment. Could be a good place to start

1500 rpm idle is weird. It always idles at 1500 cold and warm?

ya ive only had the engine in for a day but ya....hot and cold....n it has like a tap which i think is a valve adjustment issue....i asked them to adjust the valves do a tune up and replace the timing belt and water pump if needed...
