Default How does coolant flow...

This is my first coolant problem on a Honda motor..I have worked on my Dodge truck in the past...

So my question is...when the motor is cold, before the t-stat opens, is Coolant flowing within the motor???? Or is it only flowing after the t-stat opens. Comparing it to my dodge truck, there is a bypass holes...little stubby guy, that goes from the intake to the water pump...This is how the coolant flows before the t-stat opens in my truck...Does the Honda motor work the same way??? If it makes difference I have a 1.5L motors....

Sorry if this is a common sense question...just trying to understand how it works as compared to other motor I have worked on...

its flowing. its just not flowing back to the radiator until the thermostat opens. the waterpump starts spinning as the motor is running. its just cycling around the motor until the passage to the radiator which is controlled by the thermostat opens then it starts to cool the coolant.
