Default Changing locks question

How would I go about changing my locks on my vehicle? Doors and ignition? Anyone know how much it usually costs?

Hints:

1. You can go to a junkyard and remove the ignition lock cylinder and door/trunk locks in 92-95 Civics (maybe other years, too). Disassemble the locks per the sites below. Get acquainted with the little numbers on the lock plates. Call the dealer or key makers and see if they can cut you a new key based on the lock plate numbers. See

2.
You can buy brand new lock cylinders for doors and trunk at http://www.bkhondaparts.com/billkay/...itch=&hidIrno=
and a brand new ignition lock for big bucks at http://www.bkhondaparts.com/billkay/...itch=&hidIrno=

What exactly is wrong with the old locks and keys?

It's really not hard at all (even with a modest skill level). The door locks are incredibly easy and the ignition cylinder is not too tough, the steering wheel needs to be completely disassebled - buy a Helms (or similar) manual if you have never done it before. (EDIT: or use the link(s) honda.lioness provided)

i would get the key that fits your ignition, take out the any other cylinder that doesn't fit that key and take those to a locksmith and have him change out the wafers to match the ignition key profile. easily done. about 20-40 a cylinder.
