Default Car wont crank after battery change

1997 SH

Today I replaced my battery as its been a few yrs since I replaced it and now my car wont start/ crank.

I replaced everything properly and made sure everything was tight and secure with regards to the cables and terminals.

Current situation:

1.) Replaced battery

2.) Car wont crank

3.) Horn and headlights are working perfectly fine...internal lights, sounds, etc

Now it wont even crank! I am in panic mode because I have no other means of transportation right now so, anybody with any information how to resolve my problem would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

I checked the ground, made sure positive and negative terminals are in the correct position and it was a no go...

So I decided to hit the alternator with a hammer to maybe think it got stuck. And possibly it would start to crank and it did!

Then it finally started after a couple trys!

Thanks for the input though...

did you by any chance reverse the leads for a quick second? if so you might have blown your fuse. check the fuse's, check your stater fuse first, and work your way around.

I was surprised when it started...haha...I was like wow it actually worked!

BUT...now its officially dead cuz the "hammering" isnt working anymore...LOL...so I had to "pushstart" the car to get it going.

Oh well, its been 6 yrs since i purchased the car and this will be my 2nd minor/major service. (1st was clutch)

How much do these alternators run for?

do a stater test and a alternator test, check your ground.
