Default Time for H22

Well, the H23 died after serving me well for 210,000mi. So I went over to HMotors Online yesterday to meet with Steve and picked out this nice replacement.

Come with a Tanabe Limit AX header. I can't wait to have my 'lude back.

Some new pics. Engine cleaned up and ready to install. Just need to give the header a good polishing.

Thanks. Apparently its a Tanabe header. Haven't found much info about it from searching.

Nice. I've never heard of the header before. Does it come with the bottom piece as well or does it use the OEM piece?

Unfortunately, did not come with the b-pipe.

I have been looking at some pics and I think this header is nearly identical to the Mugen header.

before it was cleaned up, did you thoroughly inspect the motor. for possible leaky/greasy areas. if you were able to pick out your own motor and someone gave you a cleaned up motor, that could throw a red flag. a motor that's not in action but is clean can hide existing problems. may be minor things that just some tlc and take care of. or worse requires a heavier break down of parts to replace.

I gave it a good inspection before it was cleaned. No apparent leaks or anything.

I trust HMotors Online. They have a good record.

Which is why I am glad to be local so I was able to pick it out and inspect it myself.

Updates: H23 is out. And H22 is waiting to go in. Just waiting on a new clutch and various other pieces.

Here's some pics.

Thanks for the kinds words. I'll keep this updated as the process continues. On a bit of a break now for the holiday. Back to it on Friday. Hopefully clutch, etc. will have arrived at that point.

Swap complete... SHE LIVES!!!

I can only describe it as exhilarating. The H22A is awesome. Idles wonderfully, and really moves when the pedal goes down. VTEC crossover sounds and feels beautiful.

And now for the pics.

Out of curiosidy, what did you use for the B-pipe with that header? My RSR header also looks alot like the Mugen.

Luckily enough my DC downpipe flange matched up with the bottom flange on the Tanabe header. I need to do a 2.5" collector mod, but thats for another day.

Right now I am happy with my (other than downpipe) full Tanabe exhaust system. Got my prototype Concept-G catback a few years back after doing testing for Tanabe and now have a nice header that is not often seen in the US. Would love to find a matching downpipe for it though...

what? no video of it running? I wanna see it boogey lol.

Nice install, looks very clean. Toucan header was all over ebay when I first saw it a few years ago. It looks like a decent quality header.

Should dyno her when you get a chance. What ecu did you run? the p13? or did you grab a tunable ecu and tune it?
