i recently bought a 2000 honda accord coupe v6(dual exhaust).
the car came with a tanabe catback racing medallion exhaust system.

tanabe is 50 state legal. including cali. imo, tanabe is da best, but i just really like em. really nice low roar without sounding rice. here's a url to a website verifying the legality.

I am not sure but I see a lot of questions on legal stuff in Cali, most folks post back and say look for a CARB tag or sticker or stamp in the metal, there should be something for the smog inspector to see without having to ask you if it is legal or not, it must be CARB approved, take a look around and maybe there is something visible.
As long as it's downstream from the secondary O2 sensor, you should be ok.
Once past the O2 sensor, it's really no more than the equivilent of a really, really long exhaust tip.
Some states have enacted noise ordinances (on the civil level) and THAT can cause issues, but I don't believe California has ever included that in it's inspection proceedures.
