Default The got hit by a car and lived to tell about it thread

So 5 months ago I got t-boned by a dude going about 50mph. Threw me off the bike and just about ripped my foot off. 3 surgeries and several skin grafts and a heel transplant later I am in physical therapy and slowly getting back into the habit of putting weight on my foot and trying to stretch out my achilles tendon. Probably wouldn't have been so bad but I didn't wear any gear other than my helmet because I was riding to play basketball at a gym less than 5 miles from my house. Bad call on my part. I know.

So who else here has been run over and lived to tell about it. Share your story.....

Damn man. Glad to hear you're on the road to recovery. PT is absolutely important to getting back to normal...or at least close to normal.

I didn't technically get hit by a car but my crashed was caused by one. About 3 1/2 years ago, I left work and two turns from the parking garage I turn into a narrow one-way alley. Mid turn I see a SUV about 10-15ft in front of me and I slam on the brakes since it was the best option. My only other option other than completing the turn and ramming into the grill of the SUV was to hop a curb and run into a 2ft cement retaining wall.

Once I slammed on the brakes, the cold 208gp's washed and I lowsided. I look up on the floor and the car is probably 5ft from my face. Luckily the driver stopped in time or I'd be a hood ornament. As I try to push the bike off me, the driver is trying to back up out of the alley. Thank god the car behind me went around my bike and took down the plates of the SUV. Once the SUV driver saw that, she stopped and stuck around.

In the end, I suffered a torn PCL in my left knee and the police and insurance found her completely at fault.

My dad got hit by a car decades ago... the doctors almost had to amputate his leg and now it's about an inch shorter than his other leg.

(he still rides)
