my cousins drivers side ballast was mounted to a bold on the valve cover (bad idea i know, but i wasn't there). after swapping bulbs and ballasts, we concluded that the ballast is the problem. my question is is the ballast bad because of the vibrations it encountered from the motor? and could it be replaced.? it tries to ignite the bulb, but just flickers then shuts off.. any help is appreciated. thanks.

there a loose connection inside the ballast. you need to get a new one. try mounting it to the frame so it doesnt happen again

 

don't mount your ballast in an area prone to vibration
