Default H22 euro-r

I just installed a red top h22 euro r in place of a black top h22a, runs good, but the exhaust blasts out real loud and there is no induction noise at all! cam timing is on. Is this normal for these engines?

I believe you have to convert the obd2 distributor back to obd1 and have it tuned with something if your doing a 4th gen. If your doing a 5th gen obd2 you can use the computer and distributor with the motor.

^^^Hey Dark_Rican.. you have the euro R swap in your 4th Gen.. ?? I'm dreaming about changin my jdmh22 into a rep top EuroR. Mostly because of the out of box by Honda built performance and I really want that transmission! how is it? Would it be worth trading out my current setup for the R. For the money it'd take to ship your tranny to Gearspeed and add cams & the intake mani.. it would almost balance out.

Euro-R will have:

"PCD" based engine ID on the timing belt cover (can be removed)
Type R style single runner intake manifold (can be switched with standard H22)
No PS (can be added), no PS crank pulley (can be added)
ECU with "PCD" as the code, OBD2B (could be switched)
T2W4 transmission (could be switched)
Non ATTS transmission, oil filter in the "standard" position flush with block and not angled (same as SiR S-spec, which is often mistakenly referred to as "Type S").

I have a JDM CL1 Euro R Accord with the H22A-5 engine.

Look for all the things A Blue Lude has stated, a friend of mine has just done an H2B with a Euro R engine into an EJ1. He rewired the whole car to OBD2 to suit and is running the OEM ECU. I would emagine it would be easier to convert it to OBD1 and chip a P13 / P72 ECU to run it in a Gen 4 lude.

92civlude, what exhaust are you running on your car?? I run the factory exhaust on my CL1 and the Bark from the intake rivals a JDM CTR / ITR.

the exhaust is as follows. euro-r header,2.5 titanium piping,no cat, perforated resonator.06 civic si muffler.i converted the obd2 dist to obd1 by adding the blue tach lead to the engine harness. i am using a regular "type s" intake manifold. I didnt use the euro r intake. what makes this swap so scary is the T2W4 trans. its dirty!

Do you know if the Type S cams are the same as Euro r cams? The Euro R is rated the same hp as the Type S.

Is your car a Prelude or Civic? If your talking about the POWER STEERING SPEED SENSOR that fits into the trans where the VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR normally goes. Yes, just use a USDM set-up that has the VSS on top. The power steering speed sensor reduces assist at high speed, Its needed.

*shrug*

Popular consensus is that they are. That said, while scans of the US and European service manuals are frequent, I haven't seen any Japanese service manuals posted here, so no hard numbers on the Type-S/Euro-R cams (Crower's website does post specs for the "S" cams, but not the "R" cams).

Unless someone has measured them.

He was probably referring to your painted interior panels.

Apparently the Helm's mistakenly gives specs for the Type-S cams and springs under the specs for the Type-SH, so there are hard numbers available for the cams.

(thread jack) Does anyone have any idea where to get a hold of Japanese manuals? I'm really interested in the Active ABS system found on the Type-S and want more info...

I have heard rumors that the single runner plenum is better suited to higher RPM's.
That Being said my car sits around 2900RPM @ 62MPH (100kmph) with the T2W4 tranny, what RPM / Speed does the Type S Prelude box sit at??
