Does anyone know how to clean out the rear sunroof drains? I cleaned out the front ones with a piece of acrylic tubing and an air pump, but cannot even find, let alone get to the rear drains. The car is basically the same as a 99 Civic. Thanks.

 

the rear ones exit in the rear wheel well. I know on the 92-95 I used the tilt function to get to the rear channel drain holes. Be careful when using compressed air to clean out the lines I have seen it force the drain lines out of the rubber coupler where it exits through the body then the water drains inside the car

 

you might have to pull the headliner, and yes compressed air can def blow the tube off because its held on with what is basically a metal zip tie.

 

For 6th gens the moonroof assembly extends all the way to the back of the roof.

Removing the headliner won't do much, but removing the sunshade and glass (which lift through the top) might help at least with visibility. It's still a good foot or so back from the hole in the roof / moonroof assembly though.

You said the car you're talking about it "basically the same as a 99 Civic", so since I'm not really sure what it is, it could be very different.

The easiest way to access the moonroof tubes for the rear will probably be to drop the headliner and disconnect the tubes from the assembly. They are difficult to disconnect. I had to cut the front ones the last time I removed a moonroof assembly on a 6th gen.

 

My car is an Acura EL, the roof is the same as a 6th gen Civic. Thanks for the responses. I'm wondering why Honda made it so hard to clean the drains out.

 

Okay, the sedans have a shorter roofline than the coupes. I've only worked on coupes, but it should be close to the same.

I figure cleaning drain tubes isn't a normal thing to need to do, so that's why. It's not that bad.
