Default is there a displacement limit in sfwd or whatever it is going to be called now

or does it just have to be a 4 cylinder? i heard that they are thinking about and some are trying to get vw vr6's and the 2.5 5cylinder vw's elegible with a weight penalty

the reason im asking about displacement is toyota now makes a 2.7l 4 cylinder and thats the biggest displacement 4 cyl i've seen
anyone know of any bigger 4 cyl from any manufacturer? would this toyota engine be legal?

do you guys think they should let those 2 vw's mentioned above in? i mean there heads suck and honda's can still make more power than them as of right now

choice 1 let both in as equals
choice 2 let both in with restrictions
choice 3 let the vr6's in with restrictions but not the 2.5 5 cyl
choice 4 let the vr6's in without restrictions
choice 5 let the 2.5 5 cyl in with restrictions but not the vr6's
choice 6 let the 2.5 5 cyl in with no restrictions but not the vr6's
choice 7 let neither in

I say the more cars in the class the merrier. Just because a car isn't 4cylinder or a small one at that, we shouldn't make them go race brackets. headsup is where its at!

Open your arms with a big smile, and let them in.

I don't haveto worry about the NHRA rule book any more. That thread came out yesterday by DaveF, I believe.

I'd like to see both the vr6 and the 2.5 allowed in. I don't think the 2.5 would be even remotely competitive, they haven't made more than 400whp out of that engine from what I know. The vr6 has made competitive power but there are only a small handful of 9sec fwd cars and I don't know that any of them that have run that time would even meet the rules for weight/interior.

Just my .02

the 2.5 just came out though
vw's are very slow to get fast
its not like we have all the aftermarket support and the ability to tune a stock ecu with us to go fast you have to have standalone period and even then its hard to find standalones that like to work right on vw's
apr has made 609whp out of the 2.0tfsi engine and they are SUPER CONSERVATIVE

Who are "they"?
NHRA/NOPI SFWD doesn't exist anymore. Unless you're talking about BOTI, I'd say build whatever you want, and come out racing. IFO rules are pretty liberal, so you'd have no problem there.

I'd say as long as you run stock window glass, and head/tail lights, anything else goes.

You have nothing to worry about until your car runs quicker than 8.90, lol.

BOTI had unofficially ammended the rules to allow the vr6 in the street classes, I'm hoping they will add them into the written 2009 rules.

Like you said though if it meets rest of the rules why not let it in, those only 1 car that I know if currently running that has run a 9 sec pass and that was on 28" slicks which aren't legal for the class anyway. I don't think any of the current competitors in this class have anything to worry about on the VW front, sad as it is to say.
