Default Tire Size Problem

Got a little problem with my tire size. my dc2 is sitting on BFGoodrich KDW2 225/45/17 tires and every little turn and bump it is rubbing like crazy. I am also riding on Tein Basic Dampers. You think if I get 215/35/17 that it'll do the trick? Or do i need to go down to 205/35/17?

I think 215.45.17 should do, also depends on your ride height and offset/width of wheels though.

205/40 17 is the closest you will come to the stock overall diameter. 215/40 17 will be about 1.4% larger than stock, if you want a slightly wider tire. Your current tires, which are way too large have and OD of 1.5 inches compared with stock. Here is a link to compare tire sizes: http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp

WRONG.

205/40-17 is the closest you will come to the stock overall diameter, and is the best size to use for that reason. There are a whole lot of advantages to using the same outer diameter - it keeps the speedometer and odometer accurate, it won't degrade your acceleration like larger tires do (same effect as putting in taller gears), it's not likely to rub, etc. And a lot of good tires are available in that size, including the Azenis.

On an ITR, stick with 205/40-17.

Oh, and in case you don't believe me, look at the outer diameters and see for yourself:

195/55-15: 23.44" (stock)
205/40-17: 23.46" (+0.1 percent)
225/45-17: 24.97" (+6.5 percent)
215/45-17: 24.62" (+5.0 percent)
205/45-17: 24.26" (+3.5 percent)
