Default B16 block, B17 crank and rods

I might be picking up an incomplete project off a friend. It's a B16 block and he has all the B16 equipment, plus a B17 crank on the side. What are my options as far as the rods and pistons go, if I use the B17 crank? It's going to be an ITB'd all-motor set up. Also, what is a safe bore for the stock sleeves... Is 84 too much, or should I just keep it around 82?

I apologize if some of the questions are generic, but the new search function isn't helping me out a whole lot.

take the b16 block and put stock ls crank and rods in it and buy Erick's racing pistons ericksracing.com/id192.html if you need a higher c/r just call them up

and 82mm is biggest you can go with on stock sleeves iv seen a stock sleeve ls block bored to 84mm a few years back

LS crank and rods will soon cause a happy meeting of the pistons and the cylinder head. The B16 block is about 7mm shorter than the LS/B18C block.

ya its been done plenty of times, how doy you think the get the 1.9l B16 motors. IMO the b17 crank isnt worth the hassle. There was this exact question asked in hondatuning last month or the issue before that and they said it isnt worth the extra work for it.

I'm not going to do LS internals or buy custom pistons. It's either all-motor b16 or using the B17 crank/rods to stroke it out.

it will be the same price to build the b16 bottom end as it to put a ls crank in it

you can get ls crank for $75 + shipping or go to a junkyard and get it cheaper

used set of ls eagle rods for around $100-175 shipped

ericks racing pistons $650 + shipping

bottom end bearings set $100 + shipping
___________

new set of b16 rods $300-600 + shipping

b16 pistons 575 + shipping

bottom end bearings set $100 + shipping

The last 1.9L B16 I heard of was a cropduster (Tech43). There may have been upgrades and such since then, IDK.

82MM is the biggest you can go on stock sleeves and be safe. If you were to use the B17 internals, you would then have a B17. All it is is a B16 with different internals.

A B16's bore times(x) stroke is:
81mm x 77.4mm

A B17's is:
81mm x 81.4
