Noise when starting
I have noticed this noise a few months back. It has gotten worse the last week or so. Let me try and explain it.
Its sort of a cyclical. By this I mean that if the car is idle it stays at one frequency. once the cars rpms go up so does the frequency of the noise. its probably something that's spinning.
here's the thing. when I press and hold down the cluth the noise stops cause I guess that thing stops. the problem is that I don't know what that thing is. Can it be the cluth? someone said it could be the starter cause the noise seems to be coming from that area. bu the start starts up fine. any help? thanks in advance

Input shaft bearing, common issue with single cam trannys. A dealer can replace it, but there are a select number of writeups on how to do it yourself, but it is a hard job that involves opening the tranny casing. ISB's can make noises for years and never cause problems, all 92-00 d-series have this issue, but down the road they can start to break down, and cause fluid leakage into the clutch housing, which will not only ruin the clutch, but cause it to slip like crazy, even draining your manual trans fluid out so much that it damages internals on that. Best course of action would be to either look into a new Input shaft bearing to install, either yourself or thru a mechanic, or get a used D-series trans in good condition.
it's not that hard to fix it your self if it was a auto tranny then dam good look but manual is really easy to do as long as you get torque specs for everything
and while you add it replace all the rubber seals ....

its most like the big bearing on the end of the countershaft (the one without the snap ring around it). they are pretty common on b-series as well as the input shaft bearings. if you're gonna crack the case you might as well replace them all just so you know they are not worn.
