ive been thinking about doing an ex swap cylinder head with my lx.. but not really sure if its worth it. ive searched for videos, the 7th generation civic ex's with vtec, but you can barley hear the vtec kicking in? is vtec not as audible as it is.. say older civics??

its worth it if your building the motor. if not dont bother. vtec depends on rpms and throttle position and i think afr too. no other heads are directly interchangable

EX's do not have VTEC-E, HX's do. It is "conventional" VTEC (as conventional as crappy SOHC VTEC can be) however it kicks in at 2600RPM, it's meant to improve low end torque not high end power. The head DOES flow better, but unless you get it for cheap it's really not worth the investment.
