'98 Accord DX shuts off randomly
When im driving or at a stopm my car randomly shuts off. i try to turn it back on and its doesnt turn back on or it does after a few cranks. I read that some cars might have been recalled but if this is true then why didn't i get a notice? (my dad bought this car brand new in 1998). Is it too late to get it fixed for free? and what exactly is the problem anyway? will someone please help?
hmm well thats all the information ive got. well i just got the transmission replaced but even before that the car shut off a couple of times. once even on the freeway. also, today, the boxy thing that connects to the steering wheel started smoking up. and the rpm thing acts funny and goes up and down randomly and the car still slips and skips and the mph thing doesnt move in conjunction with the actual speed im going at (moves very slowly). i really dont know whats wrong its finals week so i cant take it to the mechanic.
Recalls, regardless of manufacturer, do not expire unlike Special Policies or Warranty Extensions.
There was one issued for the electrical portion of the ignition switch.
A phone call to Honda will cost you nothing but taking a chance.
