Default Timing Belt Whining

I am assuming its too tight. I just want to bring it to acura or honda to tension it to proper specs.

Will the dealership even do this?

The place I brought it to had it too loose and it jumped a tooth. Now it is kinda loud and whining. I just want it on there right. wtf

Yes, the dealership can do it...of course it'll cost you an arm though.

I would recommend looking into a reputable mechanic in your area. Timing belt adjustment are common and should be cake for most mechanics.

I know prices are different out here, but it's usually a $80 dollar job at a reputable shop.

yea its too tight. i dunno if your doing the work yourself but the proper way to have the right tension on the timing belt is to first get your cams and everything in the correct timing, take a 19mm deep socket and turn the crank 1 and a half turns counter clockwise and then tighten the tensioner. thats how honda says to do it and i know that because i was a tech for acura and did b series timing belts all the time

Good to know that it is common.

If 80 is a decent price, I'm betting its like 150 at acura.

I don't even want to risk it anymore because I initially did take it to like the most reputable shop around here and its still not perfect.

I actually paid someone to do it. I wish I had the competancy(is that a word?) to do it myself.

No, I suppose it could be but here the things that makes me think its the timing belt.

The timing belt sounded normal right when I got it done and even before that. Anyway it jumped a tooth. So then it was tightened and since then it made this noise. So I think they tightened it too much. The car only has 89k if that matters too.
