You can make any D series rev to 9,500 RPM with a chip. Is it safe for the car? Absolutely not. If the engine isn't built, that thing is going to blow VERY quickly. Even with all upgrades I don't think 9,500 RPM on a D series is ANYWHERE NEAR safe, just plain stupid.

Hell, I can chip my ECU so I can rev at 11,000 RPM if I wanted to, but I'm not dumb **** enough to do it.

LOL, this thread actually relates to one of the quotes in my signature!!!

My son had a D block that would do that. and it lasted about 2 months. then went boom real bad. He rebuilt another D block just for testing I guess using some after market rod and pistons and it has been running about 7 months now. Of course he said he dosen't turn that high RPM very often but it is lasting for now. I think he has a H22 and all the components needed to go into his civic now so he will probably get more aggressive.

there are many factors. if the internals are stock. its pointless. its not making power. and in gear im sure it takes 8 years for it to rev that high. the video above isnt a single cam. at least i highly doubt it. i honestly dont know what the single cam guys rev their cars to. you might wanna ask Rota92. hes the only wealth of knowledge i know who has a turbocharged single cam. i shift my car at 9500. but its not a single cam and it has something to help it rev that high lol...

From what I've seen, the D will not make much power above 8,000, regardless of modifications. The head just can't flow. Common breakdown for RPM = Ruins Peoples' Motors

I have a fully built D16Z6 head and from most Dyno charts you wont see much if any power after 8-8400rpms so revving to 9000-9500 is pretty useless unless your turbo'ed and don't want turbo lag after shifting.

Would about 7500rpm be a safe rev limit for most single cams then??

Holy Batman he's going to blow the welds on his intake. lol Thats too high if its stock it probably wouldn't last him a month if he does that everyday. I took my D to 9k and it didn't go anywhere and I was scared that it would blow up on me.

yeah that vid. is of an SiR car.. i've seen a couple guys run their single cam to 9,500 rpms one blew quickly the other lasted a couple months, like the other guys are saying though, it isn't going to have any power after 8k.. My buddy has a built single cam, his ecu is chipped at 8,100 and that's good enough for it.
