Icon3 Common accord oil leaks

I have a 94 accord EX, f22b engine, automatic. I would like to know where oil leaks occur most commonly on this car. I was leaking oil from the distributor o-ring... changed it and now that part is fixed. But I realize there is fresh oil on my transmission by the starter. Is there a part around there that commonly leaks oil?

it is NOT common for F series to leak there was a recall that expired for the front balancer shaft seal but most if not all cars that have had their timing belt changed within the last 6 years by a honda dealer or a honda specialty shop had the fix installed as part of the kit............

On that end of the engine, you've got several things which can (although uncommon) leak. Either:
Rear Main Seal (engine)
Converter Seal (trans)
Oil Pan Gasket (engine)
and I also believe the
VTec control switch is located in that vicinity.

I would suggest picking up several cans of brake clean, clean off everything, take a long roadtest and re-inspect. It should be more readily apparent as to what your problem is.

Yes, clean it all up and lets not forget the valve cover gasket in that corner also especially if its the type to have a hump over the camshaft end cap. That oil could have been from a leaky distributor as you had.

I have been recommending Scrubbing Bubbles bathroom cleaner, one can goes a long ways and its cheap and it will do the job.

Also for preventive maintenance, change your PCV Valve, the grommet in the valve cover and the hose going to the intake, if you have a PCV Valve on your engine.

hi again, around my valve cover "seems" to be good as around the cover is always clean. BUT around the vtec solenoid (i think that's what its called) has a lot of oil around it. Does it have an o-ring too?

Also, why does my oil light start to blink if i have been in traffic too long? the oil is full... is it getting too hot or something?

thanks

actually that is because the vtec gasket needs to be changed. What you have going on here is the oil is not going through vtec solenoid like it needs to. Oil runs the vtec solenoid. Hence the oil light flashing.

You are new, so you probably didn't notice, but always check the date on posts. You are responding to a 12 year old post, so very unlikely the person even still has the car.
