The HKS hi-power exhaust is fairly quiet.

**fixed**

The best *quiet* exhaust is the one on your car now. HAHA no really. I Have an h22 civic and am using the itr muffler with 2.5 exhaust and am quite happy with the sound and especially tone. Tone of a muffled performance engine sounds dandy. But if you are looking for the ginormous trash can size then I really have no insight. I used the APEXI N1 for a while but chose to go with the itr and enjoy much more now.

what engine/car do you have?

x2 I had a greddy evo2 catback (under 95db) and after less than a year I got sick of the sound. So I went back to stock. Best choice i ever made.

actually the exhaust on the car now has been hacked to hell and sounds horrible and ive been trying to source an oem exhaust for quite some time but i dont want to shell out the cash for a new one from honda so im just gonna go with an aftermarket axel-back and take it to a shop to get welded up

p.s. the cars getting traded for an ep3 in a month so im just trying to get it fixed to pass emissions..

Have you tried car-part.com?

I've seen OEM exhausts for ~$100 on craigslist.

When people say quiet, I can only recommend WS2. Get the universal and a good shop. No one will know or care that it's not an axle back. Just make sure you pick the right one. There is a turbo and non-turbo. The turbo is a straight through so it will be loud(er). Get the non-turbo version 60mm NA.

you can get a rsx typeS muffler and it will have a decent tone to it. even nicer sound if you remove your resonator

Yes. 60mm in and 105mm tip. 4" tip. I would not call it "very large". But yes, it's more like "normal large." I wish it was more like 3" or even 3.5."

I do agee. When I had my Sentra SE-R Spec V, it did look large, and attention getting. IMO, people will just see a large tip exhaust. They won't say it's "WTF large."

Personally, I love the WS2 exhaust. I have the cat-back. I've tried others, but they were too noisy. This is subtle, yet sporty. IMO, it's a perfect blend.

Unlike the large tips that I see on a lot of cheap exhaust kits, the tip on the WS2 isn't just a gaping hole coming from the muffler. It gradually gets larger.

IMO, we can debate all we want about 5-10hp, low end, top end, butt dyno, etc. The bottom-line is that it's all about style and what will make us happy in the long run. IMO, quiet = WS2. Exhaust gas is like water. It will flow no matter what.

Honestly, the best advise someone give me is this. If you want quiet, WS2 = done. I didn't listen and decided to try Magnaflow this and that. Resonator this and that. Since I was on my "second" mod car, I figure I know what I was doing. I end up spending more than what a WS2 catback would have cost me. WS2=done if you want quiet.

If you want all out drag performance and trying to trim that 0.003 sec off your 1/4 mile time, WS2 may not be for you.

well thank you for all of the help golowdrew. i have a stock d17 vtec engine and i dont plan on doing anything to it becuase the lack of power from bolt ons. from this ws2 i just want more of an aggresive look from the rear when ppl look at it instead of my stock tip. the ws2 will imo make it look much more mean looking. The one i showed you should be the best one for me (ws2 universal muffler non-turbo). am i correct?

Yes. Sounds like you are ready to roll.

I'll add more of my review. Keep in mind WS2 is still a "performance" exhaust. So it will be louder than stock (which is what I think you want). There will be no question it's aftermarket (cops attention?). However, IMO (and others too) that it's the quietest around. I did not experience any interor drone that make my ears bleed, like Magnaflow.

After I got the WS2 catback, I sometimes wonder what did I just spend $500 on? It was "so quiet" at times, and I had to just rev it a bit to bring back the fun factor for my ears. But on long drives, and daily D to work, I'm sure glad I got it as it was very livable. Something no one will complaint about.

I then got a header (for other reasons), and it bump up the sound a bit.

So I guess the way to look at it is this. It's easy to take baby steps to make it sound more agressive. And to get it exactly the way you want it.

It's hard to quiet down a loud exhaust.
