Default Catalytic converter question

I removed this off my 2000 Insight (they dont have insight forum here) I have a CEL (not sure what for) I think its the CAT so I removed it. The cat is half full (or half empty) however you want to put it. I'm not familiar with cats so is is bad or still good? THANKS!

There is 4 inches between the filling in the cat and the O2 sensor

Could you show us exactly what/where the problem is?

Kev, I can't really say what's wrong based off of the information given. It may be the O2 sensor or something else and not the catalytic converter at all. Catalytic converters are made to last the life of the car and rarely have I seen them go bad (especially on newer cars that are functioning properly). How does the car function with the suspected catalytic converter removed? A clogged CAT (thus a bad one) will hamper engine performance.

My thoughts:
1.) Get a hold of a CEL reader if possible to narrow down the possibilities.
2.) Double check for lose hoses, sensors, etc.
3.) Replace the O2 sensor.
4.) See a mechanic.

did u ever drive through water and it got in your exhaust??
cuz that could be the problem also.
but an obd2 reader will give you your answer.
u can rent one from autozone and when you return it you get your money back.
thats your best bet now.
