Default problem with stock alarm on 99 Accord

my car has a chip in the key and lately when im driving, my car dies and sometimes its kinda hard to restart. when this happens, a green key light on my dashboard flashes. if the key is wearing out, would this happen. i figured if the key was going out, it would be hard to start but my car wouldnt die when im driving it.

thoughts?

thanks

its the electrical portion on your ignition module ... honda has a recall on it ... call your local honda dealer ... give them your vin number and ask them to check the recall history on your vehicle ... its free some don't wait on it do it as soon as possible because it is dangerous ... im positive it has not been done yet ... i had the EXACT same problem ... from the dying ... to trouble starting to the flashing gauge cluster ...

i logged in at https://www.ahm-ownerlink.com/login.asp?brand=honda, put in my VIN # and it said my status for the IGNITION SWITCH recall is "fixed". says it was fixed in 02. i bought the car in 07

it says the problem causes "the engine to stall without warning. Although the engine will restart in most cases, if your engine stalls while driving in traffic or at highway speeds, you're at risk of being involved in a crash. Difficulties starting the engine (for example, hard-to-start, stalls immediately after starting, etc.) may indicate that the ignition switch is failing."

maybe its wearing out again, idk

but thanks tho!

i wouldn't doubt it ... those are all the symptoms of the ignition module recall ... ive heard its fairly easy to do yourself ...

Autozone carries it ... Duralast Part #JP126 $103.99 ...

just ask a dealer to check it again for the recall ... you never know ... and if it still says its been "fixed" ... get a price on the module ... sometimes autozone is more expensive than the dealer
