I was dropping the k20 at 4,000. But the big one is setup... depends on your tires, trans, mods...

Also depends on your control. I can't wait to try launching with this new engine. woohoo

In my EP3 if I launch past like 3K it just loses tires. I guess maybe if I did the drag strip tire burn out to heat the tires it would maybe stick.

Do you feather it or just hammer it?

That is one thing I haven't practiced too much is my launches... But as I am driving an EP3 with just bolt ons I don't really consider myself a drag racer anyway. Even when I hopefully get my JRSC I won't consider it a drag car. If I wanted a drag car I wouldn't have bought this thing. Haha. I would have built something else. I live for corners, my grandma could drive fast in a straight line.

I tried to launch around or a little above 4k, I think that's best for me, stock tires and only CAI as mod.

UTKid you should work on those track times...

When you launch are you just dumping the clutch and hammering the gas. Cause you really should feather it for better traction and a smoother quicker launch

Besides taking my bike there once this was my first time running 1/4 mile in a car. First three times I did pretty much dump the clutch cus I panicked but last three runs I feathered it.
I did break a motor mount because of those runs haha so I have Avids now and that will help. I dunno I thought 14.9 was a slightly good time for just CAI?
I've seen people with more mods ont heir type s and do worse. I mostly autocross though.

And thanks for the advice.

I pulled a best of 14.6 with a hondata intake manifold gasket and short ram.. oh and 20psi on stock tires. I got new tire setup but when I went out to the track with it I ran my Integra instead this time and let my girl use the RSX as a place to sit and have the tools.

ummm i disagree if he's on street tires. doing a pre-stage burn out only helps if using a soft compound drag slick or drag radial. street tires do not have the same properties as drag tires. the street tire will loose its heat from the burn out by time you stage the car. the best thing to do on a FWD car with street tires is to ......

1st - avoid the water box
2nd - do a simple small short burn out for no longer than 5-10 seconds with the only purpose to clean the tire of all debris, such as road grime, grass, tar, gravel, small rocks, oil, trans fluid, coolant, etc...that someone else may have left on the road surface that you just happened to drive over while appoaching the staging lane.
3rd - launch at an rpm safe for you motor, axles, and the track conditions ( colder temp= lower rpm, higher temp you can launch higher rpm, generally )

i launch at 7500rpm, 2-step on, with drag radials. on street tires i feather it around 5000 in 2nd gear. lol 2nd gear bcuz 1st gear is useless with the torque i make on street tires. lol

best times so far
12.84@108mph 10psi drags
13.01@113mph 8psi streets
