Default 98 accord v6 tranny

Hey guys, I have my dad's 98 accord v6 and he wants to change his tranny oil. It does have a hard shift into 2 and 3rd sometimes on a downshift, but it has been happening since 125k and now its at 190k. I have changed the oil at 125k, 160k and now at 190k I was going to change it again. Is there anykind of better tranny oil I can put in this car like I saw mobile ATF synthetic. Do you guys think that this can be anygood on this honda or should I go to the dealer and get oem oil? Please let me know what you guys think thanks

Get OEM Honda fluid and ask if there is an additive for the tranny that they carry also. If that does not work then its time to rebuild or buy another one.

Have you played with the shift cable from the throttle body any???

In this instance, I'd suggest ATF manufactured for Honda only. Lucas makes an additive with has met with some success as has one by BG as well.

As an additional thought, is this car now; or has it ever displayed a "Check Engine" lamp and if so what is(was) that issue?

These transmissions are fully electronic and do not have the kickdown cable as on the older units.

chaning the fluid is a short term solution, the unit is toast and needs to be rebuilt.
