Default problem with heater core?

Normally in the morning, my '07 accord takes around 10 to 15 minutes of driving to get hot air flowing in the cabin. Even if I blast the fan setting full on and turn the heat up, there's only cool air flowing out for 10 minutes. But then after that when heat starts to appear everything is normal. Does it normally take this long for hot air to get to the cabin? The outside temp is usually in the low 50sF in the morning and I'm usually on the freeway after the first 5 minutes. Thanks.

The air you are feeling out of the vents is air that is blown through the heater core where a heat transfer occurs. The blower motor pulls in outside or cabin air depending on whether recirculation mode is selected or not and pushes the air past the heater core and out the vents. If the coolant is only 50 degrees then that is what temperature the air out of the vents is gonna be. It is normal for it to take a few minutes to begin blowing warm air out of the vents. Here in Baltimore, MD it was about 30 degrees this morning and took my car about 20 minutes to get up to full operating temperature.

Thanks for the reply. My last car, a E36 BMW took less than 5 minutes for warm air to flow through the vents and this is even before the car is fully warmed up.

My '07 Accord seems to be either cool or hot air coming out. So for the first 10 mins, it's all cool air then all of a sudden it becomes hot. There's no intermiddent warm air flow between the cool and hot. I was wondering if this is typical of Hondas.
