Default 9.5s on 6th Gen Coupe

I'm gettin ready to throw on some 19" Works VS-XX on my AV6 Coupe here soon, but my guy down at the shop is really putting me in a dilemma. I'm going for a staggered setup 8's in the front, and either 9's or 9.5's in the rear.
What's keeping me on the fence is whether I should go all out and just get 9.5's, or be on the safe side and get 9's.

The 9.5s will have my tire past the fender well just a bit, so I'll need to run about -3 camber (and toe in to keep the tires from wearing as fast) in order to prevent rubbing, but the chance of rubbing the exposed lip is still present.
The good side to getting 9.5s is the much deeper lip that I will be able to get; about 3". I'm really shooting for an aggressive setup here, not conservative by any means.

Anyone have a coupe running 9.5s in the rear, pics, or any input.
Thanks.

Is there really any reason you want a 9.5" wide wheel?

That's going to cause way more trouble than it's worth.

With the offsets available- it will allow for a much deeper lip.

9's will allow a just over 2", while 9.5s... about a little over 3"

So it's completely bling then you're going for. Probably have to roll out the fenders a smidge and run a rubber band of a tire.

And I don't think I've seen a single Accord here on HT running 19's that were 9.5" wide. I think you're going to be VERY hard pressed finding someone with that setup.

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

That should help you with tires.

And on top of that are you lowered on anything? That changes things too obviously

*edit*

Looks like widest factory wheel was 7"

and here's a thread concerning your question:

They're saying an 18x8 is going to rub like crazy unless you're incredibly cambered. 19x9.5 I don't see happening.

Thanks for all ur input, I'm lowered on Eibach's atm... soon to be Tein SS.

I got a guy v6p who I was talkin with who is running 9's in the rear, but wasn't sure it I should try to push my luck with 9.5s.

I'm think I'm pretty much solid on sticking with 9's in the rear...
Thanks again for all your input mm

It can be done, with money. go wide-body or get ready to seriously roll some fenders. once you got good shocks and a good roll, your rim shouldn't touch, it'll go in the fender.

Any tyre engineer would have a fit seeing those tyres on those rims. The sidewalls are stretched to a ridiculous degree, and the beads aren't seating properly on the rims.

Are you wanting to fit those same tyres onto a rim that is 1/2" wider than the ones they are already on, or wider tyres too?

Why wider on the rear for a FWD car? For performance treasons there is an argument to be made for front tyres being wider than the rear, but not the other way around.

I appreciate the feedback. This setup is only for show...

Since day one, this project was started with curb appeal and show in mind... I've never really had an interest in pushing the power threshold on this car- I prefer to just cruise. Besides, this is my daily driver and don't really give a **** about what some muscle head in the car next to me has to say about how slow it is... people stopping me at gas stations and grocery stores on a weekly basis to comment on how nice they think it is, makes it all worth it.

I can not be convinced that stretched tires are safe. Seeing that just frightens me. Besides looking like poop, I'm amazed that tire shops will mount that and let it out the door. It's gotta be a liability issue.

To the OP, for alignment, I'm not sure how running more toe in will help with tire wear? They are going to be scrubbing down the road, and most tire wear issues are related to improperly set toe, NOT camber.

you could get the same lip size as the 9.5 with a 9. just go with a lower offset with the 9
