Default Skunk2 IM Question (Searched)

Hello, I was wondering if I replaced my stock IM with a skun2 Pro Series manifold if I would have any issues with the car. Can I just bolt it on and go?
I also chose this manifold over the victor x, and I have an AFI turbo kit and BBK 70mm throttle body. Which manifold should I go with?

Don't put the manifold on until you have that s300 in and ready to be tuned. Also, I think you'll need some small little incidentals with the manifold like a type R throttle cable bracket and a few other things. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

i had my blox manifold bolten right on without a tune and no problems. dont listen to everyone, their always going to say tune blah blah . mine runs fine right now. if you hoook it up right there shouldnt be any problems. nothing wrong with my idle and no noticle power loss. it would be better to get a tune with some cams to get hte full use out of the IM

Here is the truth.... I just installed the skunk2 manifold on my b18 a week ago...if you install everything right you should have no drivability issues..i mean like the gasket and throttle body so you wont have any vacuum leaks..etc.. and also you will see a little gain.. but i just got a chip put into my car and it made a whole world of difference... with a chip or a street tune you will get alot of power from the manifold... but if you just wanna bolt it on and go thats also fine....

not victor x- i hear its a great turbo mani. but i have info for the Skunk 2, i put the Skunk2 Pro series on my 95 GSR, just make sure you buy it for your application so that bolt pattern lines up, the mounting holes are there for a Type R throttle cable bracket, but if you have a b18b head nothing will really change as far as the TB goes, now on my GSR it raised the cable up and is hitting under the hood but doesn't cause any problems at all, its just a wire touching the underside. Now as far as your 70 mm throttle body goes, it won't be as effective as it could be because the opening inside the skunk2 IM is 65 MM, so yea your throttle body has 70mm but its gonna get choked down some when entering the IM, because my manifold curved downwards i had to get a longer breather hose for my crank so that it could reach the top of my manifold, the IACV harness just barely reached, i think i had to get a longer small hose that went to the throttle body now that it was positioned up higher, and i got to throw away that 4 lb bracket on the bottom side that held the old mani to the block.

also, on my gsr, i had I/h/e and when i changed from the GSR mani to the Skunk2, which i had the manifold out i replaced the rear motor mount and just by that i went from running at 15.6 at the track to a 15.1, stock p72, no tuning involved, no change in driveability

Thats quite an improvement, and I will be getting the manifold portmatched to the TB anyways.

Thanks for the input.

Did you notice any loss in power, especially between Vtec crossover 4400rpms and 5800rpms where the butterflies opened on the stock manifold? I've read about some people complaining about that.

i am usin the blox mani unmatched all around. i have a really bad dip bout 12-15wtq untuned. probably cause of the manifold or something of that nature. but it still pulls decent

Actually i did not notice any loss in power at all, it was like i was just being restricted by that manifold all together, lot more top end, but i have a VAFC on it now and i adjusted the vtec

Here is the best how-to and source of info for the Skunk2 IM manifold for a GS-R that I've seen on the internet.

Good ol Katman and FF Squad
