How many racers would be willing to
promote their local events to bring other racers and spectators into the stands, if they received a free race ticket and their payout bonuses for the class were directly tied to amount of spectators and racers they brought in?

thing that is killing my local track in the past 5 years. spectating went from $5 on friday test and tune (goes from 4-8 or til dark). now it is $20 to spectate and they have made no improvements to the track. just a hole in a wall track nothing spectacular.

Part of the problem is no one enforces the rules of the classes.... the only people who are being watched are the pro am and sfwd categories. I would just like to see an event that has a good turnout and I don't have to think about the guy in the lane cheating, because the dipshits who are checking the cars don't know what they are looking for.

Lets keep this on topic john, But I don't see how people can cheat in bracket racing which is what you race in considering I don't know of anyone running delay boxes on their imports.
I don't know if you could tie payouts to this, as really it's not fair. However, a free ticket, and possibly a % of how many people you brought paid back to the racer. I know most promoters pay a flat rate + % of people though the gate to the track, and something along those lines could work.

Same here... it only went up like 4 bucks but nothing has changed either!
As far as I know, an event can have four sources of funding. Racer registration, car show registration (if there's a car show), spectator fees, and then race sponsor(s) (sometimes). There's a 5th source, with the promoter but if they don't make a profit, that technically puts them in the same position as a sponsor....investing non-immediately returnable dollars in exchange for a less tangible, efficient return in exposure.
If you take the worst case with no sponsor or car show, then if the racers don't pay anything, and the crowds aren't large enough to support the track fees alone (which is hit or miss around our area it seems), then where is the difference in funds going to come from to have an event to meet the bottom line? That places a heavy burden on getting spectators in. I don't think any promoter would want to work with those restrictions.
