Default Accord acceleration problem

I have a 1992 honda accord 5 speed with a little problem. OK heres my problem. I was stopped at a stop sign, took off in first, shifted to second and i was driving along and then suddenly no power at all, pushed the gas to the floor a couple and the rpms wouldnt rev up or anything. Pulled over and let the car sit for a couple minutes, then took off and everything was ok. This has happened to me a couple times this month. Anyone know what the problem is???

Test one, unplug the EGR vacuum hose and plug it to see if the EGR is effecting your issue.

Test two, unplug the primary O2 Sensor to see if it is effecting your issue, I vote for this one, I am betting that you will need a new OEM O2 Sensor but lets make sure first.

It sounds it will be hard to prove, when you get out to do what I stated above, the car would have fixed itself anyways so how will you know if you do what is listed above was the problem.

You will need to monitor the O2 sensor wire at the computer for how many volts it is putting out when you have a problem, you will need help from a mechanic type friend to set up this test since I think you will need to drive around all the time with a volt meter hooked up and in a good / safe viewing area.

I'd check what Duane mentioned first, but it sounds reminiscent of a dying fuel pump.

Any rattling from under the vehicle?
Any warning lamps on (CEL, etc)
Does it just go flat, or does it start skipping?

inquiring minds want to know

No there is no rattling under the hood or warning lights on the dash.
The car doesnt die it just has no power for maybe 15-20 seconds then it comes back.

Another possibility: Check the gas tank. You may have rust or other junk in your tank; when you take off the junk is drawn into the gas tank's internal filter then, when you stop the pump is no longer drawing it toward the filter and it settles allowing you to take off again(for a while) until it clogs again when you drive off.
I know it is a longshot but, this actually happened to me and I didnt find out until after I spent hundreds of dollars replacing parts that were not broken. Good Luck.
