if anyone has seen both usdm and type r rear hatches, whats the status on the glass wiper hole? do jdm type r hatches have pluged holes or no holes? what about the usdm?
im wanting to order jdm glass because from what passwordjdm says, and from what the picture shows, there is no hole at all, but i dont know if they understand what im asking. i dont want plugged, i want no hole at all if possible.

 

yea its possible.

 

96 spec Rs had no wiper. 98 spec Rs were optional.

 

USDM 97 R's do not have rear wipers or holes in the glass.

 

thanks to anyone who participates in this. im actually planning on doing a full photo write up of this in spring, I'm doing the research now. im new to tegs and mostly had messed with civics.


I kinda dislike how the rear wiper, even though its not there, you can tell it goes there on those hatches (the glass markings, interior panels).

It appers the USDM glass has holes in it for the 3rd brake light and the j spec does not... im going to have to mount a 3rd brake light somehow. Im going to have to figure that part out somehow too now.

the other 2 parts of my project are the roof sprayer and the steering column switch.

i was planning on just removing the roof sprayer and shaving it when i replace the hatch. from what ive read in other threads i have to peel the headliner back a little to remove the hatch anyways.

for the front wiper switch im planning on just getting the part from a sedan so it wont have the rear wiper parts on it. i figure it will work.... any input here? im trying to do this and make it look legit.

unrelated to the legitness of this, im also thinking about shaving my antenna (or plugging it) and running one of these (see below) and putting it in the place where the wiper motor goes.

My car came with one of those installed on the front windshield and it wasn't very good. Maybe it was a weak one, but it looked just like that one.

 

no id bet you it was probably the exact same thing. only reason im remotely considering it is because id rather have some antenna than no antenna. if anyone has any other solutions id be glad to hear them. i might look in some car audio forums or something for more on that part later

 

you need an MP3 player. my antenna isnt plugged into my deck, nor does it get power. its always down.

 

lol. i have one. but i still listen to the radio. i live by KU and sometimes i gotta hear the basketball games, sometimes i have to listen for weather alerts (kansas=tornados). sometimes i like the radio music.
