Default brake disc question

whats up guys, i did a jdm 5 lug conversion for my teg, and for some reason my car starts to shake after 30mph and it feels like its coming from the front passengerside , the mechanic checked it out and said my disc is is causing the shaking, is this possible? but my steering wheel dont shake, but my whole car does, and i notice if im goin 30mph or more and i turn right it doesnt shake but once the car is back straight it does it again, and if i do it turning left it will still shake, any suggestions on what i can be?

A rotor would not just cause your car to vibrate, unless it's vibrating when you're hitting the brakes. Check all your suspension for loose nuts, look for bad front end parts, check your wheel balance, how old are your shocks?

Sounds like your passenger side axle nut could be loose and not snugging the outter joint into the wheel hub completely. Check it and tighten it down.

If you find the axle nut is tightened already, it could be a bad wheel bearing going bad. Jack the car up enough so that the tire isn't touching the ground, grasp the tire at the 10 and 2 o'clock position and try jiggling the wheel and feel if there's any kind of play or if you hear a knocking sound. If so, the 5-lug wheel bearing is bad.

Warped rotors would cause your steering wheel to shudder or shake upon braking only. If there's no braking, you will not experience shuddering.

Also, get an alignment if you haven't already.

thanks alot guys, well i did my front end last summer 2007, my shock i always haddem since day 1 that i bought my car back in feb 07, my wheels got balance and align 2 weeks ago with brand new tires, i thought it coulda been caused by the old tires so i got new tires all around, the axle bolt is tight, so im guessin it has to be the wheel bearing, if so, i got the jdm 5 lug suspension can i jus go and buy it for a usdm type r?

JDM ITR uses a 36mm outter joint so no, you can't use a US ITR wheel hub, you'll have to go with either a CRV or Prelude hub.

Actually, double check and see if your front axle nuts are 32mm or 36mm to be sure. If they're 32mm then you can go with a US ITR wheel hub.

ok i got it done it wasnt the bearing, i had bought the crv 5spd 2wd axle off a 99 as told but for some reason it was the wrong axle, the axle was a 1.25in to long so the axle did not have any play, also i took advantage and rebuilt my rear passengerside caliper, so now my car is riding good, thanks alot for the help guys, howeva i got 1 question, my suspension is off a jdm itr, now my question is, is the caliper the same as a usdm itr? are the rotors the same as a usdm itr, also my boy told me the rear caliper is the same a 4 lug teg is this true?

glad to hear you figured out the front end shuddering problem

US and JDM ITR 5 lug rotors & calipers are exactly the same.

Your rear caliper is NOT the same as a 4 lug teg. ITR rear's have a slightly bigger piston and the offset to accomodate the bigger rotor.

The ITR model that shares the same brake size as a RS/LS/GSR is the early JDM 96-97 ITR which sported the 4x114 lug pattern.
