Default stuck between what fuel.. 110 vs e85

Gas prices are down. i was going to go with e85 to save my wallet quiet a bit since 100 was 5.74 a gallon. now it is down to 3.12 a gallon and E85 is at 1.40.

I searched but didnt get any results. i got some Bosch 1000cc injectors from Tony. Now just stuck on what fuel to use.

GSR grank
Eagle rods
ITR head
Edelbrock intake

i say if you have a station that sells it even remotely near you go e85, ive seen nothing but good things come from e85, the only con is that your probably gonna max those injectors out at about 550-600 on e85

I maxxed an a1000 pump with RC 1200s @ just over 600whp.

If I where to guess 1000's would max at like 550.

Are there any Ethanol Plants or Distributors in you area? If so more than likely you can buy E98 directly from them or possibly even your gas stations and then you can blend it down to whatever you like using pump gas or 100 octane in a 55 gallon drum or other container, 40 gallons of E98 mixed with under 10 gallons of gas will roughly get you in the E75/E85 range.

E85 ftw... E98 is good ****...you could use that but you use close to 40-50% more fuel than pump...the Octane is higher also...i know my shop (www.Englishracing.net) uses it on all of their Drag cars and have made 900whp+ on it in a DSM tho.....you just need the fuel system that can handle it... i personally love the stuff...the price is $1.65 here right now and i still get about 22-24mph on E85...

E98 is 98% Ethanol, just E85 without the 15% gasoline mixed in. All E85 starts its life out as just plain Ethanol, it is then blended down to E85-E70 for use in Flex Fuel Vehicles. E98's octane is in the 110 range.

M85? Methonal and gas? Didn't think it mixed.. E85 is great stuff, you do need to
watch the mix though. I've gotten between E98 and E70 from my local station..

Some standalones allow the use of a GM sensor that will adjust for the changes in
the mix..

Remember if your going to mix your own ethanol, ethanol doesn't mix well with certain types of leaded fuels..

I'm not sure if there's any articles online about this but I know from speaking to others that Ethanol needs to mixed with unleaded gasoline as leaded gasoline contains certain elements that can actually make detonation occur very easily..

NepTune will have this feature once I get him a Flex Sensor so he can develop the software, its really not a complicated feature.

I have never tested my mix's from my local station but I do see my AFR's go .5 point's in either direction, which obviously isnt good. Not to mention it takes about 15 seconds of cranking right now in this cold air to get my car to fire, but my IAT's are sub 60 degrees right now

That is why I suggested 100 octane for the mix, or you can look into this product....

I have been running E85 on a street car for a while now and a/f has been perfect until the weather got cold. Then it got richer...

Depending on where you live E85 will vary with temp. Right now since it's cold in most states E85 can actually be E70. This is to help with your startup. This will make your a/f richer not leaner.

Your A/F will only go leaner if you tune with less ethanol and then run a mix that contains more ethanol.

The GM flex fuel sensor actually measures the amount of the ethanol in your fuel and will output a 0~5v signal accordingly. You can then alter your tune to suit. This is how the flex fuel cars work and this way you can have half a tank of gasoline and then fill up with E85 and your tune will adjust to it.

I know I have been looking at them for a year now, just waiting for a crashed flex to appear in my local junk yard.

I am pretty sure I was tuned last December on E70, because I was a good deal lean this summer when I restarted the car with a fresh tank. Now I just started it back up the other day still on E85 but with 60deg IAT's at idle instead of 130's like I was seeing this summer and the car appears to be .5 lean, at it took 10 times longer to start, it would fire on the 2nd crank in the summer. Last winter it didnt start like this at all so that also makes me think I was using E70
