not_so_jdm's 1995 Hatch build thread...
My 1995 Phantom Grey Civic Hatchback
First of all, this car was originally bought to be my daily driver. I bought it for $1300 from a local used car lot. When I bought it, the poor 1.5 SOHC was knocking and it was an automatic car. But it had a decent body, and more importantly NO RUST! I decided to put another single slammer together and convert it to a 5 speed to daily while I built a motor on the side. While I had the engine out, I decided to respray the engine bay. One thing led to another and that puts me where I am today...
Used parts collected on sites/locally:
d15b7 bottom end (Thanks Steven)
DX 5 speed trans
shift linkage
shifter
clutch master cylinder

exhaust manifold gasket
valve cover gasket w/ grommets

It had gray interior, so I decided to take it all out and use the duplicolor interior rattle can paint and make it black. Here's how the dash came out.

Got a good deal on this VTI cluster from another H-T member, so I picked it up.

While I had the interior out painting it all black, I noticed how disgusting it was underneath the panels...So I couldn't leave it like that. Spent a whole day cleaning the interior.

After:

The transmission I bought from a friend was pretty nasty. Got a bottle of Simple Green and went to town. I also mocked up the shift linkage as much as I could without having the motor in the car. After that, put the dash/cluster back in.

I called up a friend of mine that works at the local Honda stealership, and asked him to get me an audio console. I wont tell anyone how much I paid for it, don't want to break any hearts. It was cheap, I'll say that.

I finished most of the engine bay, and started painting the interior underneath the panels. I still need to remove a few things, like the charcoal canister and hide/remove a few things. I plan on relocating the under hood fuse panel to the glove compartment, and relocating my battery to the hatch area. Here are a few quick pics I took of the engine bay and the trunk area. Neither are finished in the pictures, so don't give me too much grief.

As of right now, I'm done with the interior/engine bay as far as paint goes. I'm still waiting on my ECU, engine harness and Innovative auto/manual trans mount to arrive. I've been looking around at some daily wheels, like a set of SI's or LS mesh. I'm also looking at some OEM fitment black carpet. I'm kind of at a stopping point until I receive my parts. I will post up pictures of how it looks now later today...can't find my camera cord.

Got the motor in today...after running to get hardware about 10 times. I started connecting hoses/misc crap and decided to call it a day. Also hung the new bumper for the picture. I will finish most of it tomorrow. I do however need a clutch line. I'm probably going to either order it from honda or have a shop make me a SS braided one.

Here's a little side project I'm going to work on during the course of the build.

I also ordered an Earl's SS braided clutch line kit. Got it for cheap on ebay, and decided it was the cheapest/smartest choice. OEM lines would be about $110, and making a line would just be a PITA
